Well, I am planning to purchase an Epson Stylus R230 printer by the end of the month to replace our current printer (Canon Pixma ip1200). Me and my wife is planning to establish a printing business (documents, photos, ID, invitations, etc..). As you can see in my previous post, I have a very low-spec system. But due to a small budget, I’m just trying to upgrade it piece by piece, purchasing what I really need for us to start that business. And sometimes I work on my father-in-law’s portable (which is a high-spec).
But, tragedy came (exaggeration). The monitor we’re using (an old 15″ CRT monitor) has a busted red laser. The other day, when I turned my system on, I heard a crackling noise inside the monitor. That was just for a few seconds. Then everything is working fine (the monitor actually has it’s full color). But before I left today, I shutdown my system and I heard that noise again (sounds like a small firecracker inside the monitor). I thought it was just nothing (but I know it is already a sign) and I ignored it. When I was about to leave, my father-in-law have to print some documents and I turned my desktop on (the printer is shared via the desktop) and boom (no, there is no explosion), there’s no power in the monitor. The status LED of the monitor didn’t light up. I checked the cables but the problem is inside the monitor.
Well, I have no choice to postpone purchasing the Epson R230 printer. I’ll be buying a new monitor by the end of the week. Can’t work without that computer. It is serving a lot of tasks, printing documents, photos, research, communication, extension of our Church office, entertainment, etc. The business plan won’t stop, but the quality upgrade I’m planning and additional services I want to add will be delayed.
I am currently checking for prices. I want to purchase an LCD monitor (energy efficient, space saving, better picture quality) but I hope my budget will permit. The price of the Epson R230 printer is almost the same with an entry level 15″-17″ LCD monitor.

I am planning to start a home business, but I have lots of problem with it (usual problems people have when starting a small business).

First of all is, what kind of business should I establish. I haven’t yet surveyed my place for any info on what our community might need.

Next is budget. This will depend on the first one.

Whoever that might drop by this blog, if you knew something about business (just small, home business), please leave some comments and tips…

Thank you….
