A few days ago, there was a storm that hit our place and the temperature again dropped. And as usual, she felt the temperature change. Wet season might come in a few months now (or might not, weather’s really weird) and I’m already thinking on how to help my wife with her ‘cold weather’ issues. We could buy a few stuff (if money allows) like a thicker blanket or thermal clothes. Anything that would give her warmth. Or I could also just embrace her and let my love give her warmth for the night.

In any ways, everybody feels some sort of ‘coldness’ in our lives, literary or emotionally. But it is a good thing that there’s always someone out there that could give us warmth. Most importantly, there is a God that continually gives us a warming love even if we keep on getting back to the cold.

Well, it’s still summer and I hope we would be able to save some money to buy some warmers. It’s never bad to prepare early.

We stayed overnight there bitten by mosquitoes, planted some corns, banana and as I’ve said, ate a ‘lot’.

We cooked pancit canton and they brought squash-cheese pasta, fresh lumpia, camote. It was a nice day celebrating the birthday of the two important players in our Church.

Personally, I thank God for my wife. I pray that she continually grow in all aspects of her life.

During that week, I wasn’t able to do much online. My site’s traffic went down, and my Inbox was filled with unread emails.

No rants here, even though my online presence went down, my physical morale went up.

Now we’re home, it’s back to business.

Yesterday, their school year closed and they conducted their Moving Up (for Nursery and Kindergarten kids) and Graduation (for Preparatory to Grade 1 kids) ceremony. I (and I know my wife is also) was excited for that day. Being a parent, it’s a thrilling experience seeing your child go up the stage to bow to everyone for his success for the one year of hard work for him, for us and for the teachers also. We even invited my father (my son’s grandfather, obviously) to my son’s ceremony. He is the one who went up with my son for my son’s character awards.

My son wasn’t able to get any academic awards (he suffered furuncle – ‘pigsa’ on their last quarter of schooling and he wasn’t able to go to school for one week), but he got four character awards: Most Independent, Most Energetic, Most Helpful and Most Improved.

It was really an amazing night. Even though we don’t have the privacy and “intimacy” that a classy restaurant or a private dinner will give us, it was fun and uplifting to share your love stories with other couple and learn from the “veterans”.

Best of all, my wife was really beautiful that night.

As part of the changes I am doing, and while waiting for a job, is to create a daily schedule that me and my wife will follow, as strictly as possible. I see some advantages with having a daily schedule to look at:

• Time can be properly managed
• I can have a schedule for my SEO self-studies (and other readings) without my wife asking me to do something else.
• My wife can also do her online stuff without me not letting her use our computer.
• We won’t forget to finish the tasks (Church stuff, printing jobs, etc.) that we need to finish.
• We can have proper time for our son.
• No more cramming..
• I can make regular posts (which should start once we’ve settled to our new house). I currently creating an article I can’t finish due to all the boxes and things that we are moving around.
• and more..

I have drafted my own personal schedule. But me and my wife still has to finalize it so everything is in order.

In reality, we cannot follow this schedule 100%. But I believe that having this schedule will at least give us a proper path on our daily activities.

After the demo, each student received raw materials (solo pizza crust with already spread tomato sauce, pineapple bits, cheese and ham). They made their own pizza (or for some, the parent did it for their child).

After cooking and washing (pizzas were brought inside, but the cook loaded it to the oven, not the children), the pizzas made by the children were served with chicken and spaghetti.

What is amazing, is that even with a simple event like this, a lot of children and parents enjoyed it. Sometimes, we usually forget our bonding time with our children. We parents are so busy with our work, internet etc. that we forget we still need to play with our children. It’s a relationship that is being broken that is really hard to reconnect.

In simple ways, we can have some bonding time with our children. Be creative. And don’t just find time, MAKE TIME for your child.

Fortunately, my son don’t eat pizza so me and my wife ate the pizza with the leftover spaghetti and chicken.

After her death, we live with some of our relatives (that time my father is working in Saudi Arabia). They were are tita (aunts). They are the ones who actually lived with us (except for the last one where we moved to their house. They became our ‘second’ mothers. They did their best to fill the space between when we lost our mother till the day that we we can live on our own. What we are now is a combination of their trainings.

So this mother’s Day, I would like to send my utmost greetings to this special women in my life.
