Google PR Update, down for me

Jan 26

Google PagerankThis week, you’ll see that there are a lot of blogs that are reporting their PR (Google Pagerank) being updated and bumped up 1 or 2 points. Lots of bloggers are very happy with this new update. But there are few of us who were negatively affected. With the update, blogs with less updates and traffic that used to have a PR got a lower score. I used to have a PR 2, now, it’s down to 1.  I was actually disappointed at the start, but realized it’s also my fault (no regular posting.. ) that caused it.

So as part of my goals for 2011, I’ll try to build up my PR (again). There’s a lot of work that needs to be done.

Also, I’ve been getting a good traffic this January so I think I have a good start for this year.

Congratulations for those who had their PR up, let’s work for those who had ours down.

Yes, Google has its own arbitrary ways of determining the page rank of all blogs. Although they claim to base it on traffic and links, there is no way that a blogger can determine the cause of a blogger downgrade in page rank. Thanks for the post. God bless you always.

      Thanks Mel for dropping..

They are not revealing how they really compute the PR (at least no one can abuse it – sort of). Blogging must go on despite of any loss.

pano po ba magpataas ng PR?

Link building, traffic, good content, I’m actually not sure cause Google doesn’t reveal how they compute PR. Probably the best way is practice good blogging. I’m not an expert, I’m just starting also.

BTW, your site is being marked by google as hosting a malware, probably from one of your widgets.

Lucky for you, you still have PR 1.

Me, I still have PR 0. I just found out that I have a site navigation problem according to Google AdSense.

Navigation is part of their PR algorithm, let’s keep our navigation clean and easy to find.

Probably, but Adsense is different from Pagerank, if you ask google, they will tell you not to dwelve that much in pageranking.

Sorry to hear your pagerank has dropped… I don’t think any of mine have changed, I have a mix of ranks from 0 to 5 :-)

Hi Sanjay. I’m glad I have a rank. Honestly, I don’t know how I got it. It’s up to PR2 again.

Hey there. I’m not sure if regular posting is enough but I know that I do keep a regular schedule and I received a bump from PR2 to PR3. From what I’ve been told, it’s driven by backlinks, but being a regular poster should definitely help out in that. Best of luck on the next round of PR updates! Later!

I agree, it’s the links (quality links) that are coming to your blog that (they say) is the basis of PR. But how will those good websites link to you if you don’t have quality posts?
As for me, I’ll just enjoy blogging.
Good luck and thanks for visiting :) .
